This 3-Day Tanzania Safari is the perfect short wildlife getaway from Arusha. Journey across the Great Rift Valley to encounter dense elephant herds among Tarangire’s giant baobabs, descend 600 meters into the volcanic amphitheater of the Ngorongoro Crater, and spot tree-climbing lions and flamingo flocks at Lake Manyara.
Day 1 leaves Arusha in a private 4x4 Land Cruiser for Tarangire National Park, with an afternoon game drive among elephants and baobab trees. Day 2 is Ngorongoro Crater: an early descent onto the crater floor and about six hours looking for the Big Five. Day 3 visits Lake Manyara National Park, with its groundwater forest, baboons and birdlife on the Rift Valley floor, before you drive back to Arusha.

Preparation
This trip requires good cardiovascular fitness and leg endurance. Prior mountaineering experience is not mandatory, but you should be capable of walking 5 to 7 hours per day with a 6–8 kg daypack. We recommend 8 to 12 weeks of training before departure: stair climbing, trail hiking with a loaded backpack, and aerobic workouts (jogging, swimming, cycling).
